State of MakeClothes?

Postby SaltyCowdawg » Tue Dec 10, 2019 9:22 pm

According to the plugin download page MakeClothes is still Alpha. Is this true? I got a bunch of clothes I want to try as I might to make and eventually share to the community.

The makeclothes was completely remade by punk duck you can find it in its existing state on his github, this will be merged soon as we are now in the final bug testing phase I do believe and it looks very very promising.
https://github.com/black-punkduck?tab=repositories
This new tool will be called convertclothes as we are not really making clothes but transferring them to makehuman compatibility mainly. Let us know if you find any bugs there is working versions for 2.79 and 2.8 now.

Please note in rewriting it, the functionality is different now, better in a way and will take a small learning curve to remaster!

Do you have the 2.8 version? I just tried loading it and Blender complains it needs upgrading to 2.8.

hi

The normal version we work is the 2.80 version, yes.

So you can load the "master" here:

https://github.com/makehumancommunity/community-plugins-makeclothes

(press "clone or download" and then download zip file)

You can also check, if the branches already have more code, they are normally considered as less stable, but not necessarily.

When you click on branches, you get the different versions, e.g. my own:

https://github.com/makehumancommunity/community-plugins-makeclothes/tree/punkduck_devel

You can also download the files the same way. The 2.79 version is derived from this version at the moment. Since Elv also tested it, it is rather stable already.

The nightly builds of the plugins are available here: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/content/plugins.html

The makeclothes 2 download should be of master which (I think) is still blender 2.80 only.

Yes. I only added a method to use the common .config file of MakeHuman (if available) for an alternative data directory and a method to delete all helpers in case you imported your basemesh. Furthermore I added some smaller fixes (not to take a vertex group with < 3 vertices etc.). That's in the punkduck-devel 2.80 branch.

My own 2.79 will always be an alternative for all of those using old Blender including myself. It will not contain "better" code because I merge all changes into this version. I will give that up when nobody (including myself) needs this any longer.

I uploaded the first two assets made with MakeClothes V2.
