Builds on github

Postby sfammonius » Sat May 25, 2024 3:41 pm

TuxFamily's servers are down, which apparently happens every once in a while according to their website. Could builds be put on the GitHub or some other file hosting service like SourceForge?

Most projects just put the builds in the "releases" part of the github page, but for makehuman there's only source code releases.

The builds are a bit too large to host on github, but I'm in the process of setting up mirrors. As noted, Tuxfamily can't be relied on any longer. It's tricky though since the project doesn't really have any budget to speak of, and we're talking about a total of terabytes worth of downloads per month everything combined (makehuman, mpfb, assets, asset packs...).

Actually, part of the problem is that the download links aren't updated. Some builds are already available on mirrors.

Up to date links are here: https://static.makehumancommunity.org/m ... eases.html

I should go through the web site and remove the old tuxfamily links.
