3D Printed Ponytail Girl From MH 1.1

Postby MrBundy » Thu Feb 05, 2015 11:25 pm

Now a character with the hair and the clothes. The print is really just the bust part. Just a little bit shoulder posing in Blender and a little animation. A bunch of other software... 0.25mm layers, I could go lower to make more smooth object.

Can your equipment make the same bust from icing sugar? One of the big early uses of 3d printing is for cake decorations; I saw a whole video from a consumer electronics show about this. :)

Yes of course! I only need to change the plastic extruder to the paste extruder.

Awesome!! +1

What export parameters did you use to export from MH to your 3D printing program? :D

Hi! Thanks! I installed the mhx2 export plugin to MH Nightly and the mhx2 import plugin to Blender. After Blender shoulder posing there was still some work to close holes in the mesh. Mhx2: feet on ground /meter . It came out microscopic size, I just scaled the print in Cura slicer. Female generic topology and CMU rig.

dm or cm scale will get you a bigger model.
Perhaps Cura even works with mm scale, but perhaps that's not such a good idea. You wouldn't want to print a life-size human I suppose ;)

A life-sized human (I would suggest Kate Upton, she's at least life-sized) created from Makehuman and Blender, in icing sugar, might be a bit hit on the Internet.

Perhaps on Pop Sugar? ;)

Life size. Perhaps later. I have really been thinking that. In parts even with my actual printer, but it takes very long time to print. Cura goes well still with 0.01mm. SketchUp goes grazy under 0.1mm.
