Makehuman for Ubuntu 18.04

Postby MZTS250Supa5 » Fri Jun 15, 2018 12:55 am

I tried to install Makehuman on Ubuntu MATE 18.04 and followed the usual procedure of adding the repo only to discover that there isn't yet a release version for Ubuntu 18.04. I appreciate that it can take some time for projects to release new version for updated operating systems, so my question is can we expect a release for Ubuntu 18.04 soon, or do we have to wait a while longer?

The issue is that numpy the library we use matrix maths has been bumped a few versions with a change in it's API the source version has been fixed but not packaged as a .deb yet.

Enjoy the Choice :)

It will likely be a while before we package for 18.04 because we are re-doing for python 3, qt5, and improved opengl support. This could change if Joel inherits a fortune and stops needing to work for a living. :D

In the meantime, you can download the source from https://bitbucket.org/MakeHuman/makehuman/src as a replacement for the makehuman from the old ppa. It's a little more work, but no "building" should be necessary if python 2.7 is still your default python [although inexplicably my 18.04 seemed to have a beta of python 2.7].

Yes, for now the best solution is to run from source: http://www.makehumancommunity.org/wiki/ ... rom_source

There is no timeline for an update of the PPA.
