I think the most convenient pipeline here would be the latest version of MHX2 paired with the "default" rig. In MHX2 MH side, check "poses" and "expressions". In MHX2 blender side, check "override presets" and set rig type to "exported MHX". That should give you an easily posable toon with expressions.

MHX2 is definately your friend here. Forget about collada. Don't even think about FBX, when you want to use Blender. You don't need to to choose "exported MHX" on import.

In MH:
Don't set poses or expression in MH. Leave it to default. Choose the default rig, because it has facial bones. Export to MHX2. It's important to choose poses and expressions when you export from MH.

In Blender:
Just import MHX2 with the default options. When you select your imported character (the armature, not the mesh) you'll find a tab called "MHX Runtime" in your tool shelf. There you can select poses and expressions.

The benefit of choosing "exported mhx" on import is that you get the best of two worlds: the mh default rig with its facial bones and weight painting etc, as well as the MHX control rig with for example IK/FK switches.

This is the cool thing about forums like these: You want to help someone, but instead you learn something new. This is something I have to try. Thanks for your reply and especially for the link.

WOW, i tried this and what a pleasure, to pose the model is a dream compared to the old rig, its not so stiff and bends like rubber.. so thanks for this.. You rock

Been playing with rendering normal maps from blender, decided to make this.. it works fairly well. Working on a laptop and it is very difficult to sculpt in high subdivison.

Once again all these textures are created for the male muscle proxy in the nightly build.. doesnt work well with the standard MH character as the uv map is slightly different.
