So...

There is no link to said tutorial. Either one of two things is true here:

1. The posting author forgot to put the link in there or

2. It is an AI bot spamming the forum.

I suspect the latter.... grrrrr... I am learning to hate all things AI with every fiber of my being.

There's no reason to suspect when it's obvious.

The bots are polluting this forum to the point of completely ruining it.

You are not wrong. With the rise of AI-powered bots, we've more or less lost the battle. The bots blast through the captchas and write posts which often make more sense than what many users write. There are no obvious keywords to filter on, and we're certainly not enough people to keep up with the inflow.

It's possible that the situation could be better managed with a modern forum solution, but unfortunately the different parts (forum, asset repo, site software) are tangled together in a way which makes them hard to replace separately.

Anyway, if someone wants to step up as moderator and help delete bot posts, that would be welcome.

??!! Um… well, I offered to help when I was sure I could handle the spam… but I'm not so sure now.

I am willing to moderate, but in light of all the spam, it might be a full time gig. Moderation will require several people at this point...

Well, I've added you both to the moderator group now. There's no obligation. Moderate when you have time and feel like it.

I am always glad to be of service, Joe.

Just this morning I had to remove several links to advertisers. I love Russia, but not when the posts I had to take down were written in Russian. I had to translate them before I grabbed the ban hammer. I have many friends online who are from Russia, but they do not spam forums with ads. The people from Russia I refer to as my friends are good folks. The spammers are not. But then, we both know this (natch).

Thank you for the trust and adding me to the moderator group. I will do my best...

Thank you! It feels very different when a spammer can be banned. It is convenient when one button gives a ban and deletes all messages from the spammer [ One Click Ban ]. I've never seen that before.

Apparently there was an influx of spammers from Russia — I banned two of them too. I have to check old messages.
